A Fire Being Built

        by Marc Pollitt

my breathing warms you like a winter fire
like the blazes in the hearth that consume

twenty hardwood logs each day before a
break in the January frost and kindle our

souls with the sparks that build into
passion's flame     how can the heat of my body

be so much more than yours     though youre cold
you have warmth never dreamed to share with me
